SSES Update June 23, 2020

Posted On Tuesday June 23, 2020

Bonjour les Aigles,

This is possibly the last email of the school year from me.  Although now that I have said that I am sure there will be something that I have forgotten.  I am really wondering how you are all going to spend the entire summer without anything to read because how could you read anything else after reading my ever engaging emails :)  In this final edition, you will find the following information:

  1. Farewells
  2. Reminder of the Reverse Car Parade
  3. Information on the Bright Red School Bus and Summer Reading information for Parents
  4. Reminder of the Report Card distribution plan.

Farewells

Every year, new staff join us.  This brings new ideas and energy into the building and is always welcome.  However, it also means that we say farewell to some staff.  Mme Ng, who has been working with some of the kindergarten students, is moving on to become the District Language Coordinator and we wish her well in the new position.  M. Leclair is taking an even bigger step.  He is retiring.  I want to share how much he is appreciated.  His sense of empathy and desire to help everyone did not go unnoticed.  I know that I will miss his kindness and his willingness to step in and help whenever it was needed.  Staff and students alike can always count on him to be there to help.  Merci M. Leclair.  We wish you all the best in your upcoming adventures.

The Reverse Car Parade

I am really excited to experience my first reverse car parade.  We will be ready, for those that want to participate, at 10:45am  Please review the guidelines below before coming.

  • All staff will attend.
  • It will go from 10:45am - 11:15am on Thursday June 25.
  • Staff will stand 2m apart and 2m back from the edge of the parking lot on the grass hill.
  • Cars will enter the lower parking lot from the Whiteshield Crescent entrance.  No turning right into the parking lot from Summit Drive.
  • Cars will exit by turning right onto Summit Drive.  No left turns onto Summit Drive.  Cones will be used to direct traffic.
  • Cars should not stop unless waiting to safely turn right onto Summit Dr.
  • Nothing should be passed between the car and the school staff.
  • This is an opportunity to wave and say bye from a social distance :)

The Bright Red School Bus and Summer Reading information for Parents

You were imagining that I would put all sorts of scintillating information here but I am going to cheat.  Here are links to two great documents about the Bright Red School Bus, which we are hosting, and a Summer Reading program.
