SSES Reverse Car Parade / Report Cards

Posted On Wednesday June 17, 2020

Bonjour les Aigles,

I can speak for everyone when I say that we miss seeing all the students.  For many of us, staff and students, we would really appreciate the opportunity to at least wave bye to the students we have not seen before their summer break.  To make this happen, we would like to offer a “reverse parade” for all those families that chose not to return in June.  In order to ensure everyone’s safety, the expectations will be clearly outlined below.  The general idea though is to provide an opportunity for parents to drive slowly past our staff so that we can wave bye to the students and the students can wave bye to us.  To make this happen, I need two things:

  1. Complete this survey so that I know how many cars to expect to make appropriate plans.  It will take 10 seconds:  Reverse Parade Survey
  2. Please read the information below closely:
    1. All staff will attend.
    2. It will go from 10:45am - 11:15am on Thursday June 25.
    3. Staff will stand 2m apart and 2m back from the edge of the parking lot on the grass hill.
    4. Cars will enter the lower parking lot from the Whiteshield Crescent entrance, and exit by turning right onto Summit Drive.  No left turns onto Summit Drive.  Cones will be used to direct traffic.
    5. Cars should not stop unless waiting to safely turn right onto Summit Dr. and nothing should be passed between the car and the school staff.
    6. This is an opportunity to wave and say bye from a social distance :)

If you haven’t already completed the survey, please do so here:  Reverse Parade Survey

Finally, here again is the information about the last week of school and report card distribution:

  1. The last day of classes for students remains unchanged and will be Thursday June 25 at 12:00pm.
  2. Report cards will be distributed the following way:
    1. Group 1 (Tues/Wed) will receive their report cards at the end of the day on Wednesday June 24.
    2. Group 2 (Thurs/Fri) will receive their report cards at 12:00pm on Thursday June 25.
    3. Grade 6 & 7 students will receive their report cards on their last day at school next week.
    4. Those that will not be at school can book an appointment with Mme Lisa in the office (250-374-2451) to pick up their report card between June 29 and July 3 or
    5. You can wait until September to pick up the report card or
    6. The final option is to drop off a self addressed envelope with a stamp on it in the white bin outside the main door and we will mail the report card home.

You are an amazing group of parents and we love how much you support your children.  As another year comes to an end, we can look forward to the next.

As always if you have any questions or concerns, please email me directly.
